Tsach Mackey, Boys Cross Country: Tsach Won dual meet w/Clarksburg, second vs Blair/RM; #2 MOCO finisher at DCXC meet. ranked #6 in MOCO, ran second fastest time ever on Churchill home xc course. Led the boys to a 3-2 record.
Abigail Hill, Girls Cross Country: Top WCHS finisher at RM/NW meet & Blair/RM meet, Top Churchill finisher at DCXC, Ranked #42 in MOCO, top Churchill girl runner.
Hannah Han-Kim, Golf: Hannah is an exceptional student athlete and team leader. She has helped lead our team to a 17-1 regular season record. With the best scoring average on the team she was a huge part in helping us win the county regular season title. Her average of 36.33 over 9 holes was the 3rd best in the county and the best in the county amongst females. Along with being an exceptional golfer; she is an exceptional student and finished sophomore year with a 4.0 unweighted gpa. She plays 4 instruments and plays the tuba in the school band. She is also a member of English Honor Society, takes 3 AP courses, Co-President of the Games Club, and is a member of the junior executive board.
Jack Pogorelc, Golf: Jack is an amazing student athlete that has helped lead our team from the #1 spot off the tee through the majority of the regular season. Going off first and posting a great score, he has literally helped lead our team to a regular season championship. His scoring average is top 10 in the county and has the lowest scoring average of any boy on our team. Along with golf, Jack plays two other sports at Churchill, is on the executive board, and still manages to have wonderful grades. He has a full course load of AP and honors classes and has a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.86.
Lucia Alem, Field Hockey: Senior midfielder and two-year captain Lucia Alem has been an integral part of the varsity field hockey team’s 7-0 record in September. In those first seven games she led the team in points, scoring two goals and adding 5 assists. She plays fearlessly with both the offense and defense units, and she leads the team with passion and determination
Aidan Ashrafi, Boys Soccer: Aidan has played with affective consistency for virtually every minute of every match we have played this season. He has been our “Bulldog” on the field all season. He is exactly what every coach asks of their players.
Ashley Chen, Girls Volleyball: Ashley is a senior who plays libero for the Girls Varsity Volleyball team. Ashley is a player who does it all. She passes, defends, sets and hits. Her role as libero says she is the team’s primary defender. With that she passes the best on the team, passing 2.04 and has the highest number of digs on the team with 59. But that is just not enough, she also hits a respectable 167 which is absurdly great for a libero! In addition Ashley is one of the team captains. She is respected on and off the court for her positive attitude, high intellect, always positive attitude and leadership.
Bryce Wilson, Football: Bryce is one of our young bright stars has managed to become a two way starter on our varsity football team as a sophomore. He managed to take over the RB spot against Wootton to help us come out with a win. He’s also the starting strong safety on the defense.
Danielle Probert, Cheerleading – Since May, before the season began, Danielle was at every event supporting the future team and giving girls her time to practice motions, jumps, and tumbling to help prepare them for tryouts. When the season began, she encouraged all the girls on everything they did in and out of practice. She helped make a cheer video to help the girls practice outside of practice. Danielle also coordinated team building activities and helped make clothing for both the JV and Varsity team to help make own program feel as one. Danielle has been at the forefront of our competition choreography and music development! She has a Churchill spirit!
