Vision of the Winston Churchill Athletic Department

The Athletic Department for Winston Churchill High School is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in all of its endeavors. We aspire to be an exceptional Athletic Department by offering opportunities for all students, valuing integrity in all of our actions, and providing a quality program for all those in the Churchill community to be proud of.

Mission Statement of the Winston Churchill Athletic Department

The Churchill Athletic Program is fully committed to its student athletes, making sure that we fully develop their academic and athletic potential.  Through practice, training and competition, we strive to instill the following values in each student athlete:

  • Good sportsmanship and personal integrity.
  • Appreciation for the benefits of hard work, motivation, and perseverance in both winning and losing situations.
  • Loyalty to their team and the ability to function with all members of that team.
  • Pride in accomplishments gained through fair and honest means.
  • Pride in self, school and community.

In addition to developing our student athletes in these areas, the Athletic Program provides student athletes with the very best coaches, sport equipment, support and experiences that we can.  Assuring that all of our student athletes leave Winston Churchill High School with the very best high school athletics experience they could possibly ask for.

Finally, it is the goal of the Athletic Department to serve and direct student athletes along a path that combines their educational pursuits along with athletic participation.  We emphasize that our athletes are students first and foremost while also being a competitive athletic program as it contributes significantly to the teaching and development of students.  Academics will always take precedence over athletics and we will celebrate all of the academic accomplishments of our athletes.

Administration and Staff:

As an Athletic Department, we will work hand and hand with the Winston Churchill administration, teachers, and supporting personnel.  Having a strong relationship with this group is important to the success of the Athletic Program and to our student athletes.  Without their support, our program cannot function at the high level that is expected of it.

The Winston Churchill community is vital to the long term success of the Athletic Program.  Their support in the stands, at home and financially are second to none.  With that being the case, it is extremely important for our athletic program to provide our community with a product they can be proud of both on and off of the athletic playing surfaces.  Our community should expect nothing less than excellence from our program and we expect to always live up to that standard.

In conclusion, the Winston Churchill Athletics Program will always emphasize the importance of an inclusive athletic program focused on the student athlete’s success in the classroom, on the playing field, and in the community.
