Today we get to know Varsity Head Wrestling Coach & PE Teacher, Tim Lowe.
I grew up in Silver Spring and went to Einstein High School. I was raised by my grandmother with my two younger brothers and grew up playing sports. I wrestled throughout high school and have been coaching in MCPS for 16 years. I went to the University of Maryland, College Park.
What motivates you to work hard?
My late grandmother sacrificed everything to raise me, so I work hard to live up to the potential she saw in me and to make her proud.
What did you want to be when you grew up as a child?
I wanted to be a marine biologist because I enjoyed fishing, the ocean, and animals in general.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Playing on various sports teams and making lifelong friendships through them.
What is the last book you read that you absolutely couldn’t put down?
City Of Thieves by David Benioff
What’s your all-time favorite movie?
It’s a tie between Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump. Both are classics.
Who is your favorite band?
Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Roots
What is your favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving – food, family, friends, fun, and football!
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Carne Asada, in particular the one from Guapo’s. It’s delicious and massive!
Which famous person would you like to be best friends with?
Jeff Bezos – maybe he’d throw me a few dollars.
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
Teleportation. I hate airports and flying but would love to travel more. Traffic also sucks!
