Multiple Teams · Spring Sport Senior Recognition – Day 1

Today we begin spotlighting our Spring Sport Seniors. This has been a very tough time for our Seniors to not be out competing during their final spring season so we wanted to take some time to recognize them and to thank them for all of their time here at WCHS.

Here are today’s Seniors:

Leah Rubino, Girls Lacrosse –

Leah Rubino played lacrosse for Churchill all 4 years on Varsity! She also played basketball and was a member of the incredible varsity squad this year. Leah participated in many other activities including being a student ambassador, a member of the executive board and president of the Big Brothers and Sisters Club. Her favorite lacrosse memory is when she scored the overtime goal against Whitman in the playoffs her freshman year. We had lost to them in the regular season, so being able to beat them when it really mattered was amazing! Leah plans to attend Butler University to play lacrosse and will be studying business, specifically marketing.

Martin Weis, Boys Lacrosse –

Martin played on the Boys Lacrosse team all 4 years of high school. His favorite moment was when the team held a clinic for future Bulldog lacrosse players. After high school, Martin will attend Virginia Tech and study computer engineering in the fall. Martin also took amazing pictures for the basketball teams during the fall.

Colette Youstra, Coed Volleyball –

Colette played on the Coed Volleyball team for the last 2 years but was also a practice player for the team her freshman and sophomore years. She was also a 4 year member of the girls volleyball team and played in this years State Semi-Finals. Her favorite moment was last years senior night when the team went to Iron Age together. Following high school, Colette will be attending Johns Hopkins University to study public health.

Thank you to these three amazing seniors & we wish them the very best going forward!
