Girls Varsity Basketball · Girls Basketball Off to a Hot Start!

Churchill Girls Basketball is off to a great start.   They have opened the season with an undefeated 8 & 0 record after last nights win over Wheaton. All wins have come in a dominating fashion, winning most games by a wide margin.  The girls are led by three players averaging double figures in scoring – Brittini Martin, Parker Hill and Cat Correa.   The team has shown outstanding depth and great chemistry, which they continue to build on a daily basis.  The team greatly benefits from the leadership of their Co-Captains –  Kamryn Testa and Brittini, and a team work ethic which has led to outstanding consistency on the defensive end of the court, a point of pride for the team.  The girls recently won the Churchill holiday tournament with back-to-back victories of 30 points or more; Parker was named to the all-tournament team and Brittini was awarded the tournament Most Outstanding Player.  Lastly, the team was recently recognized by the Washington Post by posting their first Top 20 Metro Washington ranking in Girls basketball in 5 years.  Churchill is also ranked in the top 5 Statewide Class 4A rankings by MaxPreps.  The girls hope to build on their start to the season in January, starting with games at Paint Branch and vs. Whitman on the 9th and 11th.
