Congratulations softball player Brittany Lew & tennis player Josh Robinson on being nominated April Student Athlete’s of the Month!
Brittany is a scholar athlete with an overall GPA of 3.96, WGPA of 4.74. She is matriculating into Liberty University and will be playing softball for their D1 team. Currently Brit is batting .566 with an on base average of .850. She has 9 hits, one of which was a double, three were home runs and one was a grand slam home run. She has 11 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. Her prowess with the bat is matched by her strength as a defender. She plays short stop and has a very high IQ on what to do with the ball and a rocket for an arm. So far this season we have played two ranked teams, Sherwood and Blair. Against Sherwood Brit batted a thousand and had an OBA of a 1000 with one single, one double and one walk. She played an error free defensive game. Against Blair she batted 500 and had an OBA of 1000. The Blair pitcher is a UMCP recruit who is the fastest pitcher in the county throwing 60+ MPH. Brittany crushed one of her pitches over the center field fence, 235 feet, and almost on to University Blvd. The Blair coach shared with Coach Morris after the game that in his 20-year career as coach at Blair there have only been five other girls who have hit the ball over their fence.
Josh went from playing #2 doubles last year to #2 singles this year. So far this year he is 8-0 and played an instrumental role in beating Whitman 4-3. This month Josh beat Wootton’s #2 Singles 6-0,6-0 and Whitman’s Andrew Liang 6-2,6-2 who has won the county championship the last two seasons for Whitman. Josh helped the boys team win the Division for the first time since 2015.
