Co-Head Wrestling Coach Tony Howard received a great honor on March 5th as he was inducted into the MPSSAA Maryland State Wrestling Hall of Fame as its 78th member, for his fantastic high school and college wrestling career. Coach Howard had an illustrious wrestling career at Magruder High School. Coach Howard, class of 2000, went 105-1 while winning 3 state championships, 3 regional championships and 3 Montgomery County championships at 140lbs, 152lbs, and 160lbs. During that time he was a 3x All-Met selection and a high school All-American. Following his high school career, Coach Howard started his college career at George Mason earning division 1 All-Freshman honors after winning a Colonial Athletic Conference championship. Coach Howard then moved to McDaniel College and was a 2x Centennial Conference Champion and 2x D3 NCAA All-American while also earning conference Outstanding Wrestler Award. Following his college career, Coach Howard served 2 years as a coach at Wheaton HS and the last 6 as a Bulldog coach. Coach Howard’s career was also marked with induction into the National Stillwater Hall of Fame and his alma maters Hall of Fame, Magruder High School.
